Here at VendingLocator4u, we are a vending machine locating service but we also run our own routes. This is important because you know that you can always draw on our wealth of knowledge in the industry. We have been running routes for over a decade and have learned a great deal in that time. One thing we know about is efficiency. Your business cannot run effectively if you are wasting time and money on a day to day basis. No business can survive in that way.
What is the easiest way to increase efficiency and profit within your bulk vending business? You mean besides letting us be your vending machine locator? A vending business tracking system. Analyzing, tracking, and monitoring your business are really some of the most important things you can do to keep yourself in profits. The primary reasons to use vending software is to track inventory of products, your assets, organize your route and map it for speed and for deciding what product will do best at each location.
While it is true that you could use a spreadsheet, there are a lot of issues that go along with that. We cover these on this page about Tracking Your Vending Business. The whole prospect of maintaining a spreadsheet to run your whole vending business just doesn’t cut the mustard.
VendSoft is the software we settled on. Check out THIS LINK for a list of features.
That really is an invaluable tool. Calculate commissions, profits and inventory. Know how much product you have in each machine, on your trucks or in your garage/warehouse at any given moment. You really can’t afford to be without this type of software in your vending routes and business life. You can even use their mobile application to access your business information via Android or iOS.
Use one of the links above or the link in the banner below for a FREE 14-day trial. It’s a great deal and worth a try. If it doesn’t benefit you and your business, cancel it and go back to the spreasheets but if you take the time to try it out… You won’t go back.
We wanted to take a moment to cover the topic of “honor boxes” or “honor snack boxes”. There are many similar names for this, but the basic concept is the same. So what is a snack box and why would you want to get involved with such a thing? Let us explain:
An honor box, is basically a box filled with items meant to be bought on the honor system. This is completely different from say, a candy vending machine or a soda vending machine in that no money is REQUIRED for the customer to receive their snack or candy. The customer will walk into an establishment such as a restaurant or bank and see a box on the counter. The box is open with chips or candy resting in the top tray, along with a slot to deposit money.
The honor box or snack box can be made of different materials. Some are made in a disposable manner consisting of cardboard while others of a more durable sort will be common Plexiglas. There are various designs and layouts, big and small, but the idea is the same.
Theft From Honor Boxes?
The “honor system” is an interesting idea for some people to grasp. The immediate response is of course: “how can you make any money if anyone could just TAKE your product without paying!?” The answer really is: “You just do.”
Of course that is slightly in jest, the idea is quite so simple. In regard to theft or “shrinkage”, it will happen. It’s guaranteed to happen at any location. The key, as anyone in the business will tell you, is to keep an eye on each snack box location. This doesn’t mean via security camera or hidden spy devices, just a simple tally upon the end of each route-run. You will set an acceptable shrinkage percentage depending on the product in each honor box. If you notice that the level of shrinkage and theft are rising higher than your acceptable threshold, you will simply collect that box on the next route-run and find a new location!
One thing that has been discussed in a various threads on the topic of honor box theft, is that neighborhoods don’t seem to make a large difference. That is to say that a middle-class neighborhood or high-class estates should not see a significant difference in theft from your snack boxes.
A user from the above mentioned thread, AngryChris, posts:
Excellent example of simple economics here. We are in the business of making profits. I have an honor box location that sells only about 7 items per month but PAYS 100%. How much money do I make on this 0% shortage location? About $4/month. It’s not bad when you consider that I am in-and-out in about 5 minutes, but I wouldn’t mind pulling this location if it weren’t a block away from another location.
In contrast, the account that is a block away from that 0% shortage account has about a 35% shortage rate. However… they consume about 80 items/month. So.. even though I may only see $50 out of what should be $80, I probably make about $20/month from this location and it may consume about 30 minutes each month (I go every other week). So the one with 0% shortage makes $4 in 10 minutes, or about $24/hour… while the 35% shortage location makes about $20 in 30 minutes, or about $40/hour. It’s all about the profits! Oh… and I put my short-date items in that location because they buy them all anyway…
I would RATHER have HIGH-VOLUME locations with 30% shortage than low-volume locations with 0% shortage just because it takes a lot less work when you don’t have to check dates on chips… plus… the high-volume locations consume just about everything, including the cheaper-priced items.
You see? It’s not so much about the shrinkage at all. It is more about what products are selling where and how much is being bought as that will often override and make you want to change your allowable shrinkage percentage.
One added note on theft, if you use a charity with their stickers on the honor box, you will have a smaller percentage of theft in most cases. Some have even reported having more money than what they expected (less than 0% shrinkage – profit on top of expected profit). One great charity to contact is the NCCS, link to the NCCS Vending Program Here. If you can find a local charity to sponsor your boxes, even better.
Our main advice is that even if you didn’t decide to use us as a locator, we recommend you use one. We have spent year after year perfecting out locating pitches for honor boxes and vending machines. We understand how time-consuming and stressful it can be. Check out that article linked above for more information on why you might want a vending locator.
An important excerpt from that article is this part about payment:
You Pay NOTHING Upfront
You pay nothing until the honor box is placed by yourself and accepted by the business. We do this to show our commitment to quality locations. The business owner or manager will be expecting you to show up with your brand new honor box or snack box. We confirm and qualify the locations for you. If for any reason there is an issue (really never happens), it will be solved. We will resolve any problem you might have quickly because we care.
So remember. If you want to save time, save your money (don’t pay anything until honor box is placed), and keep your business growing steadily: We are here for you. Some will tell you there is no reason for this service, after all you could do it yourself. Right? Couldn’t you be your own locator for your own vending business? Why WASTE money on a service that you can provide for your own business?
Let’s think about that for a moment…
Is this really a waste? Let’s think about any other service you pay for. You might hire someone to mow your lawn, wash your car, groom your dog, fix your car, repair your roof, file your taxes, legalize your business with the state and possibly even design your website. These are all services that you either:
A. Don’t have time for OR B. Don’t have the expertise and confidence to perform
Either way that ball rolls, you do pay for services all the time. The services you pay for bring you value either in saved time or more revenue down the line. Vending locators can actually do both. For instance, website designers often spend years honing their skills to a science. They understand every aspect of web design and do a great job.
You hire a web designer because you don’t have years to learn the skill. Furthermore, you don’t understand the complexity and nuance of designing a webpage. If you don’t have years, you hire a designer. Who do you think designed this website? Our vending route owners?
Hiring Vending Locators
When you hire vending locators such as VendingLocators4u, you have already made a GREAT business decision. Locators will save you time, allowing you to focus on other parts of your business. You do not need to spend weeks calling business after business trying to place your vending machine. In fact, that would be the only thing that could cause waste. Waste of your time and lost revenue for your business.
We take care of your locations so that you don’t have to. We ran our own vending routes for years and have been in the industry longer than that. You Pay NOTHING Upfront

The business owner or manager actually will be expecting you to show up with your candy machine or shiny bright gumball machine. We confirm and qualify the locations for you. If for any reason there is an issue (really never happens), it will be solved. We will resolve any problem you might have quickly because we care.

Vending Locators – FOR YOU! www.vendinglocator4u.com “We Are Different – Let Us Show You How…”
A Bulk Vending Locator can be your best friend when it comes to finding the perfect locations for your bulk candy machines, gumball machines, honor boxes and honor snack boxes. When you use the right locator service they will locate businesses that will treat your machines well, look for longevity, foot traffic or break room, and use a time tested formula for finding new homes for your bulk vending machines.
The bulk vending locator service that you choose should be able to use a program to and experience to find the right locations for your candy machine or bulk vending equipment in general. I personally don’t use an in person locator due to the fact that you have to pay at least half up front to even get them there and in my experience there are a lot that just drop your vending equipment in the first spot they find and move on to the next. Now, they may not be like that! But guaranteed they require at least half up front!
You will want a locator that knows where to look so you can make the most amount of profit, not just in the first month or 2 until the upper management comes in and has it removed, but long term meaningful income that stays the course to make you money month after month! I have my first location from 12 years ago that I have only repaired 2 doors on it! It’s not a home run every month, but steady income that never fails! That’s a smart investment in my opinion!
Just remember, your machines aren’t going to make you money in the garage, living room, or worse yet in storage where they are costing you money!!!!
Choose a locator that will answer all your questions with satisfactory answers and not beat around the bush about the subjects. It is tough to say how much locations will make, nor will anyone with experience give you number, but the bulk vending average per month is over $7.00 per head. Now, depending on the equipment and product that varies, but that’s the average.
A good bulk vending locator service won’t take months to find you locations and have lack of communication. They will stay in contact with you when you have questions and answer your questions same day. The locator service should be able to get your locations in a timely manner as well. This doesn’t mean it won’t take a week or 2 to find your locations, you might have a more saturated area, but weeks on end and no results is not OK.
An honest locator will often let you go to the location and see if you approve of the vending locations before you install the bulk vending machine or gumball machine, and better yet, doesn’t accept money up front or before you install your vending equipment! The vending locator is responsible for making sure you are happy with their choices. It will be just a matter of time before you are enjoying the profit! Before long you will have a lucrative business you can rely on!
Above all else, make sure to look up the businesses on Google and check their ratings on Google! Don’t just look at the people they give you for references! Anyone can give you a list of people that say they have done good. Do your research!
Snack Honor Boxes are a great way to bridge the gap in locations that aren’t big enough for a snack machine and yet have enough employees to support a Snack Honor Box.
Honor Snack boxes can be a great way to build your income on your route or a supplemental income to your job. Who knows, maybe you will decide to use Honor Snack Boxes as a way to build your way to being fully self employed!
Honor Snack Box Locators
Honor Snack Box Locators will find locations for your snack boxes one of two ways. Either in person, or by telemarketing. I personally don’t feel that an in person locator will get the best locations for these. They will have a problem getting into some locations that would be very lucrative for you because they will miss the manager or decision maker.
The other way of finding locations for your snack boxes is by phone – calling. I have experienced this as the way to get the best locations that will have the least amount of loss in your honor boxes and provide the best profit!
Honor Box Locator Fees
No matter what type of locator you choose, make sure that you don’t pay any money up front! If you hand over money up front you stand a very big chance of them not completing the job to your expectations! You might sit twiddling your thumbs for months before the company delivers, do not make that mistake.
Your box locator should secure the locations for you, allow you to deliver the honor box and THEN pay them! This will make sure that your money is WELL SPENT!
Honor Box locations can be tricky, so leave it to us. If you’re looking for a locator for your bulk candy machines or honor boxes, you have found the one you need! If we can help in any way including answering any questions, please contact us at: email@example.com
The first step is making sure your candy machine is clean!
After you have your equipment, the first thing is to make sure that your machine is clean! One of the most important parts of vending is presentation! If it doesn’t catch their eye, or look good, they will use another machine by another operator!
Cleanliness is very important! You would be surprised how many candy machine operators don’t clean their equipment! Take a walk around town, or drive around and look at all the gumball machines, double head candy machines, triple heads, and even the pro’s with big rack systems! You will notice quick how well most bulk vendors clean their machines!
Should I really take the time to clean my machines? Or even my honor boxes?
YES! It makes a huge difference! If you clean your machine to look like it did the day you dropped it off every time you service it, you will make way more money than the person that just gives it a quick wipe down and moves on.
If you are in a vending location with competition, you will notice quick how well they take care of theirs! The best thing you can do is go the extra mile to make sure your’s is top notch!
How to clean your candy machine: I personally use Micro fiber wash cloths and a natural spray citrus cleaner. Always spray into the cloth, then wipe down your gumball machine or candy machine with the towel. Don’t spray the machine then wipe! You won’t be able to get it all and it may drip down on a surface that the candy will be on (that’s why I would use natural).
After you wipe the whole machine down (including stand), look at the floor around your machine. If you see anything, pick it up and toss it in the garbage. I promise you that the location owner will notice this!
Even the area around your machine will be credited to you!
I know this may seem common sense, but sometimes it’s better to cover all the bases so none are missed!
Honor box locators are few and far between, more so than bulk vending locators. I’m not sure why, but I do know that the best locations seem to be restaurants. Every thing else seems to be hit or miss!
The thing about Vending Locator 4 U is that our primary target is restaurants for your honor box locations! We have found these to be the most lucrative for the honor box owner or route owner.
Restaurants take more work and more calls to secure the location, so we make less performing the service, but the customer’s smiles make it all worth it. We don’t mind to make a little less and provide amazing support as opposed to “just doing business”.
Honor boxes are a great way to start out, especially to learn if vending is right for you! It also works great to fill gaps in your area!
Let’s say you have a route of candy machines like gumball machines, double head candy machines, and Uturn vending machines but you’ve maxed out on distance. You don’t want to expand any further, but you could fill in your area with Honor boxes! They are a great way to supplement your income! Some have even made it full time using a majority of honor boxes in their routes.
If you want to order locations for Honor boxes, or you want bulk vending locations and honor box locations, we are the best honor box locator on the net! You need a location, we are the locators for the job!
Happy New Year everyone! Now is the time to get the motor running! We are ready to put you bulk candy machines in great high quality spots!
Don’t waste another minute trying different bulk vending locators, wondering why your not going anywhere! We are a different kind of locating company! We don’t tie up your money while you wait to hear back! We don’t get paid until you install your machines at the locations! That’s right! Until you install the candy machine in the newly located business, we won’t charge you!!
There are a lot of honor box locators, and just as many bulk candy machine locators, but we are different! We target high quality vending locations so that you will come back! More than that, we want to make sure that you grow your vending business into the vending company that you want! Our company grows through repeat business, we work hard to keep our clients satisfied.
Whether you start with a gumball machine, double or triple head candy machine, or the 8 selection Uturn candy machine… we are here to help you find the most profitable and safe locations for your candy machines!
Start off the New Year with someone that cares about your vending business and wants to help you build it one quarter at a time!
If your not a seasoned candy machine operator, or if you have never delivered charity vending machines/ Honor boxes before, then the task may seem to be a little intimidating. No worries! When you have a good bulk vending locator, it’s easier than you think!
I won’t focus on how others do it, or how not to deliver your candy machine. Here is how it goes:
We first send you a email with the new bulk vending locations in it which include; Name of location, address, phone number, contact person (usually the manager that gave permission), hours of operation, and other notes that the location has requested. Often times there is no extra notes, but may include: No gum, or has another machine with…….. , in back for employee’s, or out front for customers. Rarely, there may be a specific day or time. I try not to do this.
After you receive a new bulk vending location in your email, it’s best to deliver it as soon as possible! Every day that goes by is an opportunity for another vendor to get in there or the manager starts to forget that they gave permission for a candy machine!
It doesn’t make money sitting at home or worse yet storage!!!
When I go to install a vending machine, I try to wear either khaki pants or newer jeans (with belt), polo shirt, and decent shoes. The idea to remember is your representing your business. How a person portrays themselves reflects heavily on how long they get to keep the location!
When you walk in introduce yourself, shake hands and ask for the person that is listed on the email that gave permission, if they are not there, just let them know that they approved the candy machine for your charity and you are there to install it.
Then you just take it where they asked you to! Simple as that!
Whether you have bought a single head gumball machine, double head candy machine, or a 8 selection Terminator, always try to take it in with you! If it’s a big store, then go in first without it to figure out where it goes, then go back out and get it.
Hopefully this helps in getting your machine placed! Have a great day!
That’s a good question! Some feel it’s only high traffic area’s that work for candy machines. Not completely true!! I’ve had vending locations with only 3 employee’s that did better than a location that had 80! It all depends on the type of vending equipment you have from a gumball machine, double candy machine, triple head, Uturn 4 selection, or an 8 selection Terminator candy machine. Not only does the type of candy machine you have matter, but how many employee’s for the TYPE of location. Yes, there is many criteria to compare!
This is only 2 of the type’s of criteria that we have to take into consideration when looking for your locations. An honor box locator, candy machine locator, or bulk vending locator (however you want to call it) needs to have a conscience first, care about your future second, their reputation, and how they interact with everyone.
We are the best when it comes to bulk vending locators.
If you don't trust us, simply see what others are saying!
"I found Rodney when I was at a very bad place financially and with our vending business.
Not only did Rodney help get us the locations we desperately needed, he has gone above and beyond to help me personally with staying positive, he's provided bulk distributors, resources for book keeping, how to get more efficient, ways to make the most of our machines, and things to do to keep the ball rolling in a positive direction.
I could go on forever and still wouldn't be able to say enough about what a great person Rodney is, what a change he's been to my business and life, and how glad I am we found him... I just wish it would've been years earlier!" ~Christina
"Me and Rodney were in contact for a short period of time before I decided to try him out. I started with a small order but changed it to 35 machines. The day after he pulled the list for my area I had 5 locations sent my way!
The best part about how family vending works is that I can place the machines before I pay! So if there is a problem, I can bring it to Rodney's attention right away and not have my money tied up until it is fixed.
He also offers a one time relocation of any machines where that location is a dud. Truthfully I was not to into the idea of paying someone to locate these machines and driving the money I have invested up but I am very glad I did. These guys have been fast, professional and on top of every email and I will continue to use them. Thank you so much Rodney and I hope that people see how good of a job you do through this." ~ A vendiscuss.net user from Maine
"Very refreshing telemarketer experience! I highly recommend he and his staff. I'm over 30 locations now with Family Vending and I am pleased with results!" ~ Eli
"Obtained some mint box locations for me and followed my request for restaurant locations. Drop off went smoothly and I placed all beside cash register. Thank you Rodney for providing good locating services!" ~ Vendor for over 8 years in North Carolina
"I've worked with 4 locators to date and Rodney is the only one I would recommend. He does everything over the phone and got us locations quickly. I don't know why it's so hard to find more people who locate who are as honest and hard working as he is but I wish all of my experiences were as good as the ones with him!" - A user from vendiscuss.net
